Lord, though never You did I invite;
You have held me dear.
Even mistakenly, for Your work I gave no time;
But You have been watching over me.
Like pollen fallen upon the earth dusty,
I have craved matter by way of thoughts worldly.
I did not understand that moves not even a sheaf,
If You did not want it to be.
Daylight arrives, just Your grace thereby;
At night by Your kindness is the moon's smile.
In everyone's tender and loving sense of "mine",
Having filled the universe, You are there.

In You, Lord, have I been; and You have been in me. What am I in the end?
