Dancing with the Supreme

(1775)  Prabhu amar priya amar, alok dharay spandita

My Lord, my Adored,
Throbbing in a stream imperceptible,
Unseen are Your manners and customs;
Resounding is the boundless love.

Amid the wellspring of effulgence
Dances a heart effusive.
Decked in flowers of affection,
Its whole body is embellished.

You sense distress and eagerness,
Heart's ballad of sport ultimate.
Bewilderment that's full of rhythm,
In Your music only it's depicted.

Ever He is with me

(1774)  Acho ashrudharay mishe

Mixed with the flow of tears are You;
Having smiled, You are in the bloom.
Oh my Wellwisher, love I do lavish
With extract of Your ambrosia.

That you are mine, so much my own,
By Your grace today, I came to know.
In the midst of heart, please come close...
Is there any obstacle... no one will know!

Birth after birth has come;
How many deaths nectar has brought!
Around You is my peregrination,
Fruitful now in form and flavor.

My all-in-all, my everything

(1773)  Kon alasa prahare jadi bhavo more

If You should think about me in an hour of leisure,
Please just keep in mind that I am Yours.
Wrapped inside a hundred flaws, still I am love-coated;
Please don't toss me aside, thinking of the burden.

At Your will I come and leave;
But for You, for me there is nobody.
Even if You forgot me, I desire You only;
Without You there's no way at all for me.

Polestar of the wayward pilgrim,
Even at darkest night, a stream of effulgence...
In a parched throat, You're a flow of water,
A fountain of delight, essence of ambrosia.

It's a new age

(1772)  Aruner alo dhele diye gelo

You went, having poured the light of morning sun,
A new and vibrant pulsation.
Insensate, deep asleep, had been those living;
But they beheld, both their eyes opening.

Not staying abed, rise up immediately;
Your sphere of action is ready.
This historic battlefield arrives repeatedly
Every minute throughout existence.

There is no fear or bondage of blind attachment,
Nor any looking behind or aimless speculation.
March ahead, having forgot lamentation,
Each moment on the path colored crimson.

Solace and hope at times of sorrow

(1771)  Sudurer ahvane

With invitation from a remote place
With many songs, Who are You that came?
You demanded not a thing whatsoever;
Lyrics You made heard in whispers.

Rapidly and constantly, dew has dropped upon the grass;
Mind has got excited by night-jasmine's fragrance.
On the smiling kush-kash, Nature has danced,
Talkative in rhythm each and every instant.

When in low spirits, with light dressed in crimson,
Circled by planets and stars, the Zodiac amid,
Who are You that arrived, unperturbed and uninvited?
At a paradise in mind, embrace You granted.

Where is the quid pro quo?

(1770)  Kena bhalabaso amare

Why do You love me?
I don't know, oh, I don't know.
Always Your treasury's allocation I go on taking;
And yet, in spite that, search for You I don't.

At home and abroad, where I stay is Yours only;
I walk on just Your path, I tell only Your story.
Your song I keep singing,
Yet I get not intimate with Thee.

You provide everything; not a thing do I give.
I receive all things; nothing You accept.
A lamp You keep bearing; I don't light a match;
If You be absent, I do not exist.

Such an enigma

(1769)  Ekii prahelika ekii kuhelika

Such a riddle, such a mist...
You're adjacent, but embrace You haven't granted;
Why is love covered with darkness?

Light's wellspring is lost inside Infinity;
Tears are filled with a veena's humming.
Please come closer still; smash all obstacles that are there;
The streaks of sadness, kindly delete.

I love, and I know You also love;
You recognize me; I have offered You my core.
Please smile within psyche, kissing the bud of my heart,
Lonesome, oh so lonesome.

Target and chariot

(1768)  Kabe tumi asbe priyatama

When will You arrive, oh the Dearest Dear,
Inside of my lyrics, inside of my prosody?
Having laughed to heart's delight, You will speak:
"A melodic flow am I, like unto gold shining."

You won't ever neglect me, that You will say...
Under any circumstance You won't keep faraway.
Having stayed with me always, coated with thought's grace,
Like the pollen inside blossom, sailing You will go.

In love that is but Yours, by dancing Earth is replete;
Within Your song, the finite gets lost inside Infinity.
Mind's chariot for everybody is Your path of morality,
For it does carry to the sweetest goal.

Himalayan mountain mine

(1767)  Tumi himagiri tuhine dhaka

You are the snow-covered Himalaya.
Emanating from the immense firmament,
With affection the white snow is coated.

Out of kindness the snow melts,
Only a stream of water, it descends.
Lavishly fostering grass and greenness,
It goes on creating a realm of great wealth.

Oh Mountain King, to you I offer salutation,
You are the cloud-master at Lord Shiva's residence.
Unstintingly, you go on dispensing your benediction
With a water flow perpetual, hey my bosom friend.

My place or Yours?

(1766)  Phulavane ami tomay ceyechi

In a flower garden I have looked at Thee;
Like my honeybee, please go on staying.
Having submitted to a heart that's tiny,
A song of the Infinite do sing.

Mid a jungle of ferocious beasts,
May Your anklets always ring.
Among fearsome specters, utterly gloomy,
Light's path, please reveal.

This my aspiration is not at all hopeless;
Is there any other who will quench my thirst?
If You be not come to my heart,
Lift me up then into Yours.

The invitation that You bring

(1765)  Priitir ketane ke go ele mane

Who are You that came to psyche under love's banner
With a far-flung invitation from the Infinite...
Thoroughly pervasive in the guise of being absent,
But by kindly disposition mind having vanquished.

Even though I don't want it, You wish to escape;
I want to hold on to You inside of my heart always...
No matter how many hundreds of rows of waves
Raising a clatter, I do not care.

Hey my dear Charioteer, at this time do steer
Oh Your chariot all-penetrating...
Both form and formless, as one let them be
Yanked by Your reins only.

Vision of true beauty

(1764)  Kalapacur bhrngamukur

Armband of peacock feathers, looking glass for the black bee,
Who are You that came dancing and today still is dancing,
Dressed in beauty world-effacing,
Candy-coated streak on vision,
Pouring an assortment of ambrosia onto the Creation?

Those who know You, they have become Yours;
Those who don't know, You take also their burden.
Instantly delighted, unbodied and unseen,
Onward You glide, dancing rhythmically.

Hey Expert in Couture, oh my Target,
There is none else who's Your equal.
You are boundless... infinite, without limit;
I will surely attain You, vying with impediments.

Bumblebee whispers in ear

(1763)  Malay vatase oi cand bhase

On a gentle gust of wind yonder moon does rise
Upon the remote sky with ambrosial smile.
With Fall's exposition, what do the jasmine of night express
To the Kans grass, wholly manifest?

Encircling a flower hums the Bumblebee;
My psyche dances on observing Thee.
A brimming heart, it goes on telling,
With emotion swelling, the story of Your deeds.

At present, impediments the mind wants to cleave,
To continue doing just Your work constantly,
Flinging behind me all shyness and fear...
And coating with sweetness, exultantly.

In disguise, an eternal blessing

(1762)  Sammukhe chile arale lukole

You had been front and center, but You hid behind a screen;
Did You go off and lose sight of me?
Such is Your Cosmic Game, a sport with the heart!
Tender One, why did You become severe?

Inside the flower bud You had been in shape of spring;
With anguish about thunderbolts, You became a ghastly heat.
Upon lightning's thunderclap, affection went a-sailing,
The pollen having become stonelike, unfeeling.

Now Your particulars I have conceived;
Staying hardhearted, it is not Your thing.
Once more You'll be tender, You will be full of honey;
You will smile at heart's core with melody and beat.

A love so pure

(1761)  Bhalo besechi tare bare bare

I have held Him dear over and over;
Through ages so many I have forgotten.
From mine of mind, gems I've strung into a garland,
With rays of the sun on the bank of splendor.

For the entire world there is one who exists;
Single-handed every mind He has taken captive.
With a single luminous body, He surrounds the stars;
And all of them crave Him from core of their heart.

He has endured, so everybody is alive;
By His love-strings they are getting tied.
They become enchanted on just His song's melody,
Like essence of nectar in times of ease or difficulty.

A mysterious mercy

(1760)  Palashe agun jvele

Having lit a fire through flame-of-forest,
In the midst of mind, color You affixed.
Oh Who did come, mind entrancing,
Heart enthusing with a tune and beat?

Mind thinks that You it did not see;
Nonetheless, with love it is pining.
The One Unknowable it holds dear,
With what hope at hard times like these?

You don't get bound by ties earthly;
You keep kissing buds of psyche.
Suddenly, with this same privacy,
From realm unseen, why did You appear?

From darkness light came

(1759)  Alok esechilo

Light had arrived;
A flower had smiled.
On footfall of morning sun,
Life, wakened, had arisen.

The bud had been veiled in shame for long;
Honey, it dispensed in luster's trough.
Songs sublime in many tunes went adrift,
All of them encircled by darkness.

The tale that none had ever spoken,
Pain told not by any lips–
History that had always gone unwritten,
It took shape in fruits and flowers.

(1758)  Eso bhuvane gane gane

With pristine sonority inside of my hearing.
With a great reverberation inside of thinking,
Kindly arrive on a wind that's undulating.

To You there is nothing for me to speak;
The little bit I do think, only that the mind fancies.
Mind wants to be engrossed inside of You only;
In reverie, songs I go on singing.

Extract of nectar, You're the One Most Dear;
You are like a white billow on ambrosial stream.
You abolish my accrued impurities
In seclusion underneath heart's canopy.

Never without shelter

(1757)  Sandhyabelay sandhyatara

At nightfall, the star of evening...
At night's end, You are the star of morning...
With the crimson dawn, its reddish gleam,
All day long, the sun light-dropping.

On a moonlit night together with You only,
Peacock feather in armlet, having skipped in frenzy,
The dance keeps rising... a goose is on the wing;
And not bereft of nest is she.

All are surviving by Your perseverance,
To You, all are held in the heart.
With just Your love, Your eternal song,
The universe entire is filled with existence.

And songs in Your melody I sing.
I think of You only,
And at Your face I peer.

I am a rain-blackened dusk;
You are a tuberose, gently pleasant.
On Your fragrance, at Your touch,
Dancing, dancing I set off.

I am a winter sky, by the fog veiled,
You are a crimson glow at the break of day.
With Your color, mind I've painted,
To a rosy Heaven I race.

Glory be to Your light

(1755)  Aloker utsare aloker utsare

On light's upsurge, on light's upsurge,
Following a foggy roadway
Those who'd gone far away,
To their home they did return.

You exist, and so the light did abide;
You exist, hence there is life.
Those who wind up ringed by utmost gloom,
They move about, forgetting You.

I know not the abode of gods or of mortal men;
Hell and heaven, them also I don't acknowledge.
To You do I pay heed, oh Great Shining One,
Who has surrounded the ocean of existence.

In order to obliterate my sorrow and anguish...
Inside the mind what regrets, and there were hundreds,
To make all of them remote in an instant.

But for You for me there is nobody else
To whom I make known my heart's distress.
My feelings innermost, to whom do I tell
Without You on this earth, in heaven, and in hell...

Splendid beauty of paradise, oh Deity Dearest,
Into my ear You sing the song of just the divine realm.
From blooms full-blown I have strung a matchless garland
To adorn You in private...

Hardhearted Deity

(1753)  Tomar e bhalabasa ashru mesha

This love of Yours is mixed with tears,
Oh the Callous Deity.
When wanting You with happy mien,
You make it weep, causing flow of separation's stream.

From what can happen easily,
You don't let it be by any means.
You keep moving on a path oblique,
With crest and trough endlessly.

You think that if You moved straightforwardly
Then liila's world, in the twinkling,
It will grow cozy with Thee...
This procedure You've created out of that fear only.

(1752)  Amar maner madhura ksane

At a candied hour of my psyche,
By a route delightful, do come please
With the kindly sound in a gentle breeze,
Bearing a smile like a flower's mien.

Just heart's nectar is required for worship...
To do it in respect to You, mine I have kept.
Standing before me, both hands outspread,
With smiling face, oh Beloved, do accept it.

Unlike a blossom, I am not immaculate...
Only pure when Your mercy is emitted.
Instantly, I can be unsullied,
Filth removed by scorching heat.

Inner thoughts wreathed in heart
With mind's splendid ornaments.

Gems I seek mentally to bring light.

From the first day that mind was duped.
That day itself, my vice and virtue,

But having kept within, I also cannot adhere.
After trying to remember, I go on forgetting;

(1749)  Akash dake megher phanke

Sky calls through the cloud-rifts;
At intervals calls the wind.
In month of Bhadra's brimming heavens,
From the vista come fallen jasmine.

No more does the mind stay at home,
Incited by a vague Unknown,
And as there is no ban to go,
With bosom full and hindrance broke.

There is nectar in my psyche,
But its bearing Pilgrim is not near.
He has called from behind screen;
I don't grasp in which direction is He.

Filling the heart with immortal sweetness,

You came not to beg for anything;
Not a one for self-interest do You hold dear,
Bestowing causeless grace on everybody,
Ever lively, dancing You proceed.

No refuge of Your own, You are the shelter of everyone;
Upon Your touch, gladly demolished is the darkness.
In the cosmic sport, instantly You hide once more,

In mind's depths, a private world,
Doors You did open.

I had been all by myself,
Wrapped in gloomy ignorance.
Streaks of light-rays,

But within mind there was utter darkness.

Many lunar days have passed crying;

No matter what you invent.

On far bank of the sea of darkness,
Songwaves come in streams dulcet;
There's not any termination,
In spite of your calculation.

On route to the source, light's flow on earth is infinite;
In forte and vibrato rise compositions of music.
Kindly say, will anyone put paid to that,
That by which thought is surpassed?
