When with spring He arrives

(1579)  Niilakashe alo bhase

Light floats upon a blue sky;
On such a day, Who comes to mind?
Ashok and palash beside,
Affliction forgotten, woodlands smile.

Floral pollen drifts upon a restless wind,
And peacock-calls sing out with rustling impassioned.
The jangled thoughts gripped in His anklets' chime,
Having banished pain, Who filled up life?

With stibnite upon eyes comes memory's whisper,
Dispelling what's made black and painting well in color,
Hope goes a-floating
In slow-stepping[1] cadence, beat after beat.
