Myself You cherished...

(3638) Bhalabesechile amare priya

You had loved me, Darling;
In exchange, naught did You desire.
I have taken charity, two hands filling;
Able to give nothing was I.

Light at the dark of night You have gone on giving;
What is good You've apprised, discretion awaking.
By thund'rous proclamation, You set afire ebony;
Not even a matchstick's flame You acquired.

Under the afternoon sun diminished,
To me at ear did You whisper, by means furtive:
"In gladness and in sadness and in grief, I am with;
I did not forget you at any time."

  1. With a love so private and personal, it's almost a secret.
