Who are You in the gloom of my despair?
Into this solitude, oh Who came?
In dream, what I did not fabricate,
Is it You? Confidentially, please say.
Lackadaisical, I had been bewitched by the mundane;
Consciousness, who knows why You brought and gave.
Inside thinking You infused sensibility's cascade,
Like an unearned, crimson grace.
With Your company there'd been no familiarity;
I never did anything in exchange for well-being.
At no time did I request to appear;
Lonely and ashamed, I'd been far away.

I know You not at all... I certainly never called. Yet now I pray: Don't depart!
