Then, my Darling, why did You not arrive,
When there'd been an opportune time?
Mental secrets had been practiced in melody;
Lost at present, they retired.
On wrist had been bangles, upon head a wreath;
A wicker tray[1] was I arranging.
What fire was amassed and blazing,
A lantern did it set alight.
Daytime goes away, abated comes the light;
What is good and bad I've been able to realize.
This my lamp, presently You ignite;
Love You pour into a hungry life.

In my prime I would have liked, but You did not arrive. You came only at the end of life.
